School meals: Tuscan dishes and short supply chains for 2026–2027

A visit to the Via Marche kitchen, which serves more than 800 children.

Following Mayor Matteo Buoncristiani’s visit to the Via Marche production kitchen, the council presented its nursery and primary school meals service for 2026–2027. Vivenda, part of Consorzio La Cascina, prepares daily meals for more than 800 children. The council announcement promises organic products and short supply chains, consideration of different dietary requirements and traditional Tuscan dishes. Food education activities are also planned. The company reports purchasing new kitchen equipment, including a cold room and dishwashers with lower energy consumption. The quality claims are those of the council and the operator, made when presenting the service.
