Crastatone 2026: four contrade open their cellars over All Saints’ weekend
The council presents the 59th edition of the Amiata festival, scheduled for 30 October to 1 November.
Piancastagnaio’s autumn calendar once again revolves around chestnuts. The council announces the 59th Crastatone, established in 1967, for 30 and 31 October and 1 November. In the presentation published on 24 September, tourism councillor Pierluigi Piccini describes the involvement of the four contrade, Borgo, Castello, Coro and Voltaia, with cellars open in the old town’s lanes. The food offering centres on roasted chestnuts, suggioli, brodolose and castagnaccio, alongside new wine; the announced programme includes music, dancing and shows. The festival’s name refers to the cut made in a chestnut before cooking, a farming tradition that has become a shared symbol of the town. The municipal presentation thus links the woodland product with the contrade’s role and village hospitality. The dates document the 2026 edition, rather than inviting readers to future events or reporting final attendance figures.
