Dogaia prison: Monni says healthcare and safety must advance together
The regional visit highlights problems with healthcare spaces and the possibility of telemedicine.
Prison healthcare returns to the regional agenda after Monia Monni’s visit to Dogaia in Prato. The institutional statement reports more than 630 prisoners and worsening overcrowding following the closure of sections at Sollicciano. The councillor highlighted spaces that do not fully ensure staff safety, distinguishing this problem from the availability of personnel and equipment. The Region, health authority and prison management are working on premises and care pathways. Telemedicine is among the options discussed, potentially reducing outside journeys for appointments and checks while preserving the right to healthcare.
