Florence inaugurates the Water Museum beneath Terrazza Marasco
The Arno, flood memory and hydraulic engineering feature in the new exhibition.
Florence’s Water Museum has been inaugurated in spaces beneath Terrazza Marasco. The exhibition traces the relationship between the city and the Arno, from memories of the 1966 flood to the history of engineering works on the river. Toscana Notizie notes the involvement of the Region, the river basin authority, the heritage authority and the operational partner in the project-financed scheme. Features include the Fabbrica dell’Acqua and twelve weirs on the Arno. The announcement distinguishes the ribbon-cutting from visitor access: public opening is expected in the following weeks.
