Treno Natura: thirtieth anniversary in Siena reopens debate on regular services
The meeting recalled the Asciano–Monte Antico tourist line and discussed its future.
Treno Natura’s thirtieth anniversary also brought regular use of the Val d’Orcia railway back into the debate. Siena council reports a meeting held on 14 October in the Sala delle Lupe, devoted to the 52 kilometres between Asciano and Monte Antico. The presentation combined photographs, memories and Stefano Maggi’s book on the tourist service. In the statement, reopening the line to regular services is described as a future objective, while retaining the heritage train at weekends and on public holidays. It is therefore a prospect discussed at the meeting, rather than a newly operational regular transport line.
