Siena joins the Green City Accord: five environmental objectives by 2030
The council’s decision covers air, water, nature, waste and noise.
Siena council is joining the Green City Accord, a European initiative for administrations committed to improving the urban environment. The statement of 20 October reports that the cabinet approved membership at its meeting on 13 October, on the proposal of councillor Barbara Magi. The programme identifies five areas: air quality, water resource use, biodiversity, the circular economy and noise reduction. The stated horizon is 2030. Membership represents a political and administrative commitment shared with other European cities; the source does not present those targets as results already achieved or claim that the agreement automatically secures funding.
