Bike sharing: Sigerico takes over Si Pedala from 2027
The cabinet aims to integrate bicycles with the city’s parking system.
Siena’s bike-sharing service is changing operator. The cabinet decided to entrust it to Sigerico, the council’s in-house company, from 1 January 2027. In its statement of 20 October, the administration links the choice to integrating cycling with parking, already managed by the subsidiary. The network described comprises 19 cycle stations, 195 docking points and 130 electrically assisted bicycles. The stated aim is to connect park-and-ride sites and city destinations more effectively, encouraging journeys combining different modes of transport. The report concerns a management award taking effect in the future: at the time of the decision, the handover was not yet operational.
