Voting away from home: Siena publishes application guidance

The council explains new provisions and distinguishes elections covered by the scheme from those excluded.

On 23 October, Siena council published guidance on voting for electors temporarily living in a region other than their region of registered residence. According to the official notice, the new provisions cover parliamentary and European elections and referendums, but exclude municipal and regional elections. The statement distinguishes stays for study or work from those for treatment, therapy or care, and gives 31 December 2026 as the deadline to apply to the council where the elector is temporarily living. These are the instructions issued by the authority: requirements, documentation and the scope of the rules must be read in full in the official source, without extending the procedure to elections it does not cover.
