The governance of Santa Maria della Scala is set to expand. Siena’s cabinet approved a draft agreement with the Culture Ministry on conservation, public access and promotion of the museum complex. In its statement of 27 October, the council identifies the Ministry’s future membership of the Fondazione Antico Ospedale Santa Maria della Scala, established by the administration as its founding member, as a central element. Mayor Nicoletta Fabio was authorised to sign the agreement. The document also covers research, exhibitions and joint cultural projects: approval concerns an institutional agreement, rather than an announcement of completed works.
