Campagnatico: after festival dispute, Confcommercio praises Pro Loco accounts
The 2024 meeting distinguishes the association’s social work from objections to the rest of the calendar.
The debate over Campagnatico’s festivals draws an important distinction following a meeting between Confcommercio and the Pro Loco led by Andrea Viani. In the account published by Grosseto Notizie on 17 April 2024, director Gabriella Orlando recognises the transparency of the association’s accounts and its work for schools, traditions and the Palio dei ciuchi. For the summer, the Pro Loco had planned a ten-day food festival from 26 July to 4 August, alongside religious events. The praise follows Confcommercio’s criticism of other events in the calendar, which the association counted as exceeding forty days. Orlando maintains reservations about other initiatives, but identifies the Pro Loco as a positive example, rather than the target of the objections. This is a judgment attributed to Confcommercio, not an audit carried out by this publication. The distinction matters: discussing festival income does not justify dismissing all documented social activity or presuming irregularities.
