Maremma surgery services: Monni defends network as Minucci fears peripheral hospitals will lose out

The regional minister describes the resolution as a planning framework requiring further operational steps.

Reorganisation of surgery in Grosseto’s hospitals was discussed in council following a question from Luca Minucci of Fratelli d’Italia. Regional minister Monia Monni described a network concentrating highly complex treatment at the main referral hospital and distributing less complex planned activity to peripheral hospitals. She specified that health authority resolution 960 is a policy framework requiring further steps to define practical arrangements and timing. Minucci challenged the consultation with local communities and warned that surgical services at Orbetello and Massa Marittima could be weakened. The regional response and the criticisms are both documented in the official record.
