Pontassieve disruption after derailment: Region announces another letter to the minister

The 25 September incident reopens debate over the Arezzo rail line.

The partial derailment of a stationary freight train affected rail traffic around Pontassieve on 25 September, disrupting regional connections and commuters. The account published by the Region reports slight contact with the last carriage of a regional train and no injuries. President Eugenio Giani and councillor Filippo Boni announced another letter to the Transport Minister, calling for action on the Arezzo line. These are the regional administration’s positions: the statement does not contain the findings of a definitive technical investigation into the causes of the incident or responsibility for it.
