MPS: unanimous council motion seeks to retain the bank’s roots in Siena
The document calls for a permanent institutional forum with the Province, Region and Government.
The relationship between Siena and Monte dei Paschi has produced a shared position in the city council. At the extraordinary meeting of 24 June, all 27 councillors present unanimously approved a motion to protect the bank’s local roots. Presented by council president Davide Ciacci, the document commits the mayor and executive to promoting a permanent interinstitutional forum with the Province and Region, involving local representatives and the Government. The council also reports a request for regular monitoring of developments at the bank. This is a united political position of the assembly, rather than a decision on the bank’s corporate structure.
