Palio horses: grants set for the 2026 Equine Protocol

A total of €42,300 allocated, with amounts varying by age and compliance.

Siena’s executive has confirmed the financial contribution criteria for the 2026 Equine Protocol. The announcement of 24 September reports a decision taken two days earlier: €420 for horses aged at least five and €200 for four-year-olds. The total allocation is €42,300. Eligibility is limited to owners who have met the registration and training requirements under the protocol and its implementing provisions. The resolution concerns incentives for maintaining horses on the register; it does not make payments automatic for every horse or remove the need to check that the required conditions are met.
