Viale Sardegna: Capitani answers Province on immigration office timetable

The deputy mayor distinguishes discussions about the building from the need for an immediate move.

The future of the Viale Sardegna property is fuelling debate between the council and the Province. On 8 October, deputy mayor Michele Capitani responded to provincial president Agnese Carletti’s proposal to use it for police headquarters offices. According to the position published by the council, the immediate need to relocate the immigration office would not be compatible with the timescale for any refurbishment. Capitani also cites the previous protocol allocating the building to healthcare and the need to examine projects, costs and assessments by the relevant bodies. This report concerns that institutional response: the deputy mayor’s observations are attributed, rather than presented as an independent technical conclusion about the building.
