Housing hardship: cabinet approves agreement with Prefecture and court

The agreement also involves local health and social care bodies to identify vulnerability earlier.

Efforts to address housing hardship are moving towards new coordination between institutions. On 13 October, Siena’s cabinet approved a draft protocol promoted with the Prefecture, the court and local Società della Salute health and social care bodies. Presented by councillor Micaela Papi, the proposal renews a process begun in December 2022. According to the council, financial difficulties and rent arrears require earlier identification of vulnerable situations and shared responses. The document concerns coordination between procedures and social assessments of families: the statement announces neither a blanket halt to evictions nor automatic allocation of a home to the households concerned.
