A new gateway symbol has been installed on the State Road 73 di Levante roundabout at Due Ponti. On 16 October, the council unveiled Siena ti accoglie, a work by Renato Ferretti: a corten-steel horse bust displaying the coats of arms and flags of the seventeen Contrade. According to the official statement, it measures approximately three metres high and two metres wide. Councillor Barbara Magi places the installation within the programme of artistic decoration for city roundabouts. The choice links a council-commissioned work to one of Siena’s defining symbols and to the appearance of the city’s entrances.
