Palazzo Pubblico: funding to make the Civic Museum more accessible

Plans include replacing the lift and opening access to spaces currently reachable only by stairs.

A new lift is intended to improve accessibility at Palazzo Pubblico. Siena council announced that it had secured funding under the Tuscan call supporting implementation of plans to eliminate architectural barriers, promoted through the regional accessibility centre and Usl Toscana Centro health authority. The announced work includes replacing the lift and adding a stop to reach part of the Civic Museum currently accessible only by stairs. Councillor Micaela Papi highlights work with the council’s disability rights advocate, Monica Barbafiera. The funding provides the basis for the project; the statement does not declare the work complete.
