Castagneto quarry deposits decision approved: no immediate opening

Twenty-three votes for, with centre-right abstentions, on Romitorino and Valle delle Dispense.

The Regional Council has approved a resolution concerning the Romitorino and Valle delle Dispense mineral deposits in Castagneto Carducci, with 23 votes in favour. Fratelli d’Italia and Forza Italia abstained. Committee chair Brenda Barnini explained that the step brings planning into line with judgments cited in the proceedings. She specified that any quarry opening is not immediate and remains subject to municipal powers. Alessandro Capecchi of Fratelli d’Italia criticised the short examination timetable and called for a review of the classification of potential deposits. The resolution therefore does not amount to the start of extraction.
